BioShock Infinite

After three years had passed since the release BioShock 2, 2K Games has now returned to present the third BioShock with BioShock Infinite title. The game itself remains the first-person shooter, but now the development is again handled by Irrational Games, developers of the first BioShock is of course led by Ken Levine, the developer of System Shock 2.

BioShock Infinite

BioShock Infinite is a third game, but the story is completely new and not part of the first and second story of BioShock. In BioShock Infinite, we will act as an ex-soldier and former Pinkerton agent named Booker DeWitt who are heavily indebted. In 1912, in order to free yourself from debt, DeWitt took the mission to go to Columbia to take a girl named Elizabeth is out of town and back to New York.

Columbia city here is not reasonable, because the city is a floating city in the sky is dominated by Father Comstock. Booker finally entangled in a conflict between the Founders Columbia led by Comstock and the Vox Populi, led by Fitzroy, where he discovered that Elizabeth apparently has a mysterious power that could open the door to another dimension.

If we see a glimpse, BioShock Infinite appears like a first-person shooter game that is pretty standard. DeWitt can carry two weapons and had supernatural powers named Vigor acquired from magical drinks. Vigor ability possessed by DeWitt also there are many kinds, ranging from the permeate to help our enemies, electrocute opponents, throwing objects that could explode and so on. DeWitt can also use a variety of gear to strengthen himself.

A fps with supernatural powers
Sounds like a standard first-person shooter with extra features not? But actually, BioShock Infinite is not a regular shooter game, but a game that mixes the modern and the classic.

Modern because DeWitt has a shield that will recharge when not being attacked by the enemy, and classic because DeWitt has a health bar that cannot regenerate and can only be filled by a variety of healing foods and items found in the environment.

If in today's first-person shooter multiplayer which is identical to the single-player is a corridor with a variety of high-quality cutscene, BioShock Infinite boldly change all that by not providing multiplayer and provide a single-player game that feels like a classic gamewhere we can choose the free route.

BioShock Infinite Handyman
Handyman, great enemy classmates Big Daddy
This coupled with a health bar cannot regenerate, so we should explore the vast Columbia for various healing items, ammunition, salt (to use Vigor) as well as money to upgrade Vigor and weapons. Available in rural Columbia vending machine that provides a variety of upgrades, including vending machines that provide health, salt and bullets.

BioShock not name if there is no class enemy Big Daddy, BioShock Infinite, and although there is no such thing as an enemy Big Daddy, but no enemy equal to our opponents, ranging from up to Motorized Patriot Handymen. Everything is dangerous to be fought frontally.

Elizabeth opened the door to another dimension

The most interesting of BioShock Infinite is the girl who was saved by DeWitt, namely Elizabeth. He has the ability to open the door to another dimension. With his ability, DeWitt could manipulate the battlefield to be more favorable to him, for example, in the wide open field dimensions sometimes torn when opened by Elizabeth will be a place for shelter, supply of weapons, turrets and so on.

Since the core story of BioShock Infinite is with Elizabeth, this means that all the games we will be forced to run the escort mission. But do not worry, because Elizabeth here are not stupid and never in the slightest danger. This is because only AI opponents DeWitt just want to shoot and do not consider Elizabeth as the target. In addition, Elizabeth DeWitt can also assist in providing money, salt, ammo and even health. Who does not teach them that the medic should be killed first?

Environment is a playground for Elizabeth
Elizabeth alone had the AI is quite interesting. Like Yorda from ICO, he also likes to look at the environment around us, and pointed when she found something interesting. In addition, Elizabeth is also able to interact with the environment such as sitting on the bench or do picklock on the locked door. If DeWitt execute opponent using melee attack brutally and sadistically, then Elizabeth would cringe and commented to DeWitt. Things that seem small can turn into Elizabeth's character becomes more human.

Unfortunately, the player with Elizabeth attachment was less because he himself was never in danger. Indeed, gameplay, this is good because we do not bother to have to protect the 'additional burden' is, but in terms of story, we become less concerned and considered Elizabeth as a supply crate walking alone, especially when we're at war.

Graphically, Bioshock Infinite really shows an interesting environment to be seen. City of Columbia is an amazing space, especially if we are jumping and swinging using the Skyline, then we will be able to see how enjoy roam the city skies. Not wrong, Irrational Games has created a beautiful city. The character has also performed quite well, especially Elizabeth, who appeared very cute ... a stark contrast to the brutality carried out by DeWitt as head of an opponent who can drop out.

Who exactly is this mysterious woman?
BioShock Infinite also have the option of classic songs and some songs that use the instrument, according to its setting in 1912 coupled with the sound of the familiar Troy Baker voicing games and movies / anime as Booker DeWitt, and Courtnee Draper, actor Morgan Hudson The Jersey as Elizabeth.

One of the most appealing factors of BioShock Infinite is an interesting story. If at the beginning of the story we are confused by the story of this game, little by little we will get to know the characters better as we progress the game. Just a little warning, BioShock Infinite has a theme of racism and religion is quite controversial.

Elizabeth don't slap me please!
Slightly annoying thing in BioShock Infinite is imperative to seek its own players to the destination path. Indeed, there is your arrow that we can call to indicate the direction in which our goals, but often your arrow is not clearly stated in the direction of where we should go, especially a lot of its skyline. It makes us have to use the first spin skyline before finally finding the right place.

Conclutions

BioShock Infinite is an exciting game for fans of classic first-person shooter. Salute to Irrational Games and Ken Levin who dares to try something different in the middle of the ocean first-person shooter that focuses on multiplayer and single player is very scripted. Also salute the brave 2K Games to publish the game like this.

If you are bored with the saturation of games first-person shooter and want a different FPS game with exciting stories of intrigue, BioShock Infinite's worth a try.
